In the main event of UFC Fight Night 26, three-time title challenger Chael Sonnen was able to earn a first round submission over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Sonnen pulled guard once he had a guillotine choke locked in and he immediately forced Shogun to tap.
After the fight, the bad guy came back out of Sonnen.
“I’m the man of the hour, too sweet to be sour. What you see is what you get and what you don’t is better yet. I’m the women’s pick, I’m the men’s regret and if you pick against Chael Sonnen you made a bad bet,” Sonnen said during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.
That was the always entertaining intro that we get from Sonnen, but then he went in to attack mode and delivered a perfectly executed call out of Wanderlei Silva.
“Now, right here on the UFC’s new home, FOX Sports 1. Wanderlei Silva, 6-foot tall and 205-pounds. Boy, until I met you, I didn’t know they could stack crap that high. I just got done with a world champion. If you don’t think I’ll add a middle-aged comedian just for the goddamn pleasure of it, you better think again. Wanderlei Silva, in three months, you and the bad guy.”
How the fuck did Phil Davis get the victory over Lyoto Machida? I had Machida winning all three rounds. Thats what happens when you leave it up to the judges!
“I wonder how the piece of meat was feeling when we bought him the Bentley. That statement right there, drives me insane. A year and a half ago nobody knew who Jon Jones was. Now the kid’s a multi-millionaire and he’s got this, that, you know?
When I see him in Toronto, that’s the first fucking thing we’re going to talk about. Piece of meat? That sounds like something a male supermodel would say” - Dana White on Jon Jones
Renan Barao defeated Urijah Faber by decision to be the interim lightweight champ to face Dominick Cruz.
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was arrested early Saturday morning for a DUI after getting into an accident in Broome County in New York state. The accident was first reported by TMZ who said Jones crashed his Bentley into a pole and was arrested at the scene. Ariel Helwani reports Jones walked away from the accident uninjured.
Dana White will have surgery Thursday in Los Angeles to treat a recently diagnosed case of Ménière’s disease. The UFC president missed Tuesday fight at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. – the first event he’s missed since he purchased the company in January 2001. White revealed the news via Twitter prior to the fights.
“First fight I will miss in 11 years and it is killing me,” White said. “I have to have surgery in L.A. tomorrow or trust me I would be [there].”
According to Yahoo! Health, Ménière’s disease is a condition when fluid in the inner ear gets too high, and it can affect balance and hearing. Symptoms of Ménière’s include tinnitus, hearing loss, vertigo, vomiting or nausea and a feeling of increased pressure in the ear.
