Following in the footsteps of the original, The Expendables 2 promised to be an old school action romp starring the most testosterone fueled stars of the past three decades. However, in a recent interview one of the film’s stars, Chuck Norris, apparently demanded that the movie be toned down from an R rating to a PG-13 rating so it could appeal to a broader audience.
"In Expendables 2, there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. For this reason, many young people wouldn’t be able to watch this. But I don’t play in movies like this," Norris explained. "Due to that I said I won’t be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13."
Even though he isn’t the director this time around, Sylvester Stallone can’t be too thrilled with this move because he set out for the Expendables franchise to be a tour de force of foul language, nudity, and excessive gore.
